I want to purchase this tent for me and the kids to camp at a camp ground. How well does it hold up in rain?? Should I get a rain fly or does it not need one??

light rain does not seem to bother this tent. there are design features that make this tent waterproof over some that come with a rain fly. we sleep two with cots thats about all the room, maybe with pads or air mattress you can do three or four but it would be tight. very easy set-up and take down, i was amazed.

We have only had this tent out once, and it wasn't rainy so I can't answer your question specifically. It appears to me that it would hold up nicely in wet weather. The set-up is super quick and easy, which I like very much. I question whether or not 4 people could sleep comfortably inside it, as a queen-sized air mattress took up about 80% of the floor space.

It works well in short periods of rain, ( couple of hours), but I always bring a fly for periods of unexpected heavy rain.
It is a good tent!!

Absolutely perfect, even in 65 mph gusts which knocked down all other conventional tents. I left the vent open which resulted in a quarter sized puddle on my bag. Moved up to the 6 man and like it even better. I have recommended these to several other scouts who are now using and praising it. The fly is cheap insurance and I intend to get one for both my 4 and 6 man tents when I see a good price on them.

The very first time my husband and I took this tent out for a camping trip, we set it up in sleet, snow and mild hail. It sets up very quickly and kept us nicely dry all night. This tent is designed to not need a rain fly, so you should be fine in the rain. Although, as a reminder, keep the little vent in the top of the tent open or the condensation from your breath at night will collect on the walls and things may end up a bit damp.
Happy Camping!

Holds up fine in the rain, went camping and it happened to down pour all weekend and stayed nice and dry. But of course dont have anything laying on the tent sides or you are bound to have leaks just like any tent. Also its pretty small, I used a queen air matress and it just fits with a little space for your items. Might want to go with a bigger one for more then 2 people, unless they are small people lol.
