Comments about Camelbak Montara 45 oz. Hydration Lumbar Pack - Discontinued Model:

This hydration lumbar pack gets the job done. It has a few pockets for small nick nacks like chapstick/keys/phone and wallet. It's not so stable if you are gonig to go running with it but a brisk walk will allow it to stay in place. I am a big drinker so the amount of water it holds isn't so grand. It's one and a half nalgene bottles if that is any help.

Perfect for the hiking, walking, and running my wife and I enjoy. Great size for a couple hours on the trail with room for essentials like food, knife, car keys, etc. Fits great for running - no sloshing or flapping around.

Comments about Camelbak Montara 45 oz. Hydration Lumbar Pack - Discontinued Model:

I bought this pack about a year and a half ago because I was looking for something to keep me hydrated on long runs training for a half-marathon and I didn't want to wear something on my back. It took me a little while to figure out how to get everything adjusted just right so as to not bounce around on me but I finally got it figured out. I have a pretty small waist, about 31 inches, and I had to really work at getting the straps to cinch up enough but I was able to do it and once its adjusted right it is very comfortable for long periods. I actually wear it with the pouch in front instead of in the lumbar region of my back. I find it bounces less and is more comfortable there. The guy who reviewed this and said the hose was too short never followed the hose back to the bladder and fished it out of the right slot in the covering. Also, getting it really full takes some patience and a little practice to let the pouch expand and fill the nooks and crannies of the covering. I don't know if it holds exactly 45 oz. or not but it is always enough to keep me hydrated while running for more than 90 minutes. I run out before 2 hours of running but if I come home empty I'm OK with that. I really like the different pockets and pouches. Overall, I'm very pleased with this pack.

I use it weekly mtn biking and it does what it should. Wish the pockets were bigger on the side like their older one which is able to carry the battery for the lights. Overall you cannot go wrong w/ Camelbaks.

Comments about Camelbak Montara 45 oz. Hydration Lumbar Pack - Discontinued Model:

This an update to my purchase of the camelbak hydration pack. The quality is fantastic and I have found that I can place a fold-away dog water bowl under the flap (or in place of the bladder for rough mountain bike rides during winter months). My bike holds two water bottles/cages and I can easily keep him (and me) easily hydrated : )

          Questions about this item:

Shopper  Is the camelbak montara for kids as well?
DAVE H  There's no reason kids could not use it. Bear in mind that 45 ounces of water weighs - 45 ounces. That's nearly three pounds. Even as an adult, having 3 pounds flopping about behind me, held by a waist-strap, was a bit much, and I have switched to using backpack style hydration packs. A small child might be more bothered by the sheer weight than an adult, but taht would be it. Bear in mind that if the kid's going to be active for only a few hours and it's not 100 degrees, merely hydrating properly before the activity is usually adequate.
