Comments about Black Diamond Trail Poles (pair):

Very simple design. No silly rubber band (shock absorber) to get stuck compressed or overly complex twist locks that collapse randomly. I also prefer the grips to the plastic blister causing ones. I used a pair of these on my Appalachian Trail through hike and gave them away afterwards; I'm now buying another pair.

Comments about Black Diamond Trail Poles (pair):

These are very nice poles for the price. Prior to purchasing, I shopped around and these were the best poles I could find for the price. I wanted good solid trekking poles and didn't want to spend a whole lot. Black Diamond is well known for high quality equipment and these poles live up to that reputation. The poles are easily adjustable and break down to a nice size. The poles have a round cross section and are not oblong like some other BD poles; however they seem like they have good strength and will hold up to considerable stress and strain. So far I've used these for an 8 mile hike and am very happy with them.

Have only used them a couple times seems like a quality product. Did not slip at clamps while in use.Only reason for 4 stars is because length of time in use.

            Questions about this item:

JennyMarlen J  Does it have anti-shock absorption system?
PHIL S  These poles do not have the anti-shock absorption system. I've read mixed reviews about poles with the absorption system. I've used these sporadically for 3 or 4 years and really like them. Most of the people I hike with have these poles. For the money you just can't beat them!
Shopper  Are these poles specifically right handed and left handed?
DAN T  The poles are both identical. The only part that you will notice being asymmetrical is the way the wrist straps lay across the hand. It is hard to describe but because the are both oriented in the same direction they feel slightly different. I notice it when I slip the straps on but quickly forget within the first mile that they are like that.
Shopper  What is the difference between the BD Expedition poles and the Trail poles?. Are the grips different. I would want to use the BD poles for back country skiing and snow shoeing.
JAY S  Yes, the grips are slightly different. The hand grip portion is pretty similar between the two, but the Trail have a non-slip foam section just below the hand grips, which the Expedition do not. I'm not sure that the Trail poles would be good for back country skiing, but I've used them extensively for snow shoeing and all around general backpacking and they have performed great.
