What size would a 5'5" woman require?
Michael F
This is a recommendation I used from another Black Diamond Pole.
I am 5'8", so I purchased the 105-125.
100 cm: Less than 5 ft. 1 in.
110 cm: 5 ft. 1 in. - 5 ft. 7 in.
120 cm: 5 ft. 8 in. - 5 ft. 11 in.
130 cm: 6 ft.+
Balance walking makes this recommendation: Your height in Inches x 2.54 = Height in centimeters
Height in centemeters x 0.685 = Estimated pole length
Round to the nearest +/- 5 cm for your best pole length
For a 5'5" person, that would be 65 * 2.54 * .685 = 113 cm +/- 5 cm would be from about 108-118 cm.
The 105-125 would seem to work.
The reality is if you walk on widely varying terrain, up, down, and flat, it helps to have a pole that can be easily adjusted. You want short on steep climb, middle or about same as your arm extended straight out for fairly even terrain, and long for down hill. In reality, I use my slightly higher than my arm extended and mostly keep it their for the terrain I mainly hike on in Minnesota. But on steep or long down hill, it really helps to extend.
I love 3 things about these poles--light weight, easy assembly, and small packing size. I am an avid hiker and pole user and I take my poles every where, including when I travel, as I love to hike. My older Black Diamond poles did not have this small of a profile when packing, so I love the design on these poles.
Sincerely,
Mike Farrell

Hi Susan,
I would think about 110cm. You want you forearms level when you have the handles in you hands with the poles on level ground at your feet. This will aid you in your selection. You will get the most comfort & performance with a selection using this method.
I'll never trade mine in. They are very good poles.
