Awesome-but on windy days the wind catches the poles because of the shape. Makes them hard to handle.

Lightweight and strong, great for hiking & snowshoeing. I live in Nevada where the ground is very uneven & rocky. I find these poles great to keep me steady while hiking through the rocks.

This product is really good. I just used it on a seriously steep and slick climb today and they defo saved my butt a few times on slides. Be sure to use the snow baskets on snow terrain for extra stability...definently did not put those on before I went out. But they are super lightweight and compactable. My new bff's

Comments about Black Diamond Contour Elliptic Carbon Poles (pair):

Locking mechanisms are rock solid unlike Leki poles. The Black Diamond carbon eliptical poles are both durable and extremly light weight. I would recommend this product only if someone is open to after market modification of lower grip with a grip similar to a tennis racket grip wrap. The lower grips are way too abrasive and will both rip up your hands (gloves) in use and damage poles if not stored properly. Fortunately, other online reviews helped me prevent this before any use.

          Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
WILLIAM S  On sale, brother in law raved about them, easy to lock and do not slip.
Shopper  Are these the 2012 version? Thanks.
WILLIAM S  Do not know, not sure if it matters even. I did find that the lower clip on one pole broke on me, perhaps I tried to force it, so they are not indestructible. Ordered a replacement part from BD for $3 but they hit hard with shipping, like $10. Ordered 2 to have a backup. Otherwise happy with them, price is excellent. The elliptical is supposed to be a bit stronger than the non. After my wife saw these, she also wanted replacement poles, but the only ones on sale at that time were the cork handle, they are also good.
Shopper  How much do they weigh? What is the length range they can be adjusted to?
SunnySports S  (Weight Per Pair : 536 g, 1 lb 3 oz) (Usable Length : 68.5–140 cm, 27–55 in) (Collapsed Length : 62.5 cm, 25 in) Stay safe and have fun out there! Neal
