Ultimate Survival Sparkie Fire Starter Sparkie was designed so that backpackers, hikers, campers and other outdoor adventurers don't have to sacrifice quality survival gear because they are trying to save on weight and space. The Ultimate Survival Sparkie Fire Starter features one-handed operation in a lightweight and compact design. Weighing less than one ounce and half the size than the BlastMatch. The compact body of the Sparkie has a rubberized grip wrap giving you greater control and comfort during use. The Ultimate Survival Sparkie Fire Starter features a reconfigured striker tab enclosure and spark bar and it can be operated in the worst kind of weather conditions, and do it one handed. It was built on the premises of the original BlastMatch, and then made it better.

No need. It is all self contained. You simply push down the lever and it strikes. I use a cotton ball as tinder. You only need one hand to light it. My friend showed me one and I loved it. Bought one for each of my kids (they are adults) and one for my brother=in=law. We are all campers and hikers.

No. It has its own flint. It is the best one i have used so far. It even worked for me when it got wet. Good luck.

Any solid object. I've done it on logs, concrete, and the bed of a truck. Just have the fire starting material where it can catch the spark (and, in some cases, be able to move the material once it has started).

The 'flint' pops out of the plastic body on a spring loaded rail. You put the end of the rail hard against your fire starting material. Quickly push the housing body towards the sparker tip and this action scraps the 'flint' and generates the sparks. It does work but you have to push the sparker against something.

how do you use it?&is it water proof?

This is not waterproof. Its used to create a spark and start a fire.
