Questions about this item:
Shopper how true to size do they run?
MICHAEL G For me it was an exact fit.
JOHN G Not sure, my foot is a 9 6E, I have a wide foot. I get these in a 10 wide and they fit great. Comfortable from day one
HAROLD A D they are very true to size. i love them because they have a wide size for my fat foot. enjoy them as they are a great boot.
PAUL R Greetings,
I always order size 8 boots when I order through the mail. The Chocoura size 8 fit me just fine. If anything they might be just a little bit larger which is fine for thick socks. These boots are all lined inside and very comfortable.
THOMAS H Fit true to size. Have purchased 2 pair and very comfortable boots. Put about 100miles on them to date!
Shopper Will these boots accept strap-on type crampons?
KRISTINA J This boot will not work with crampons because it is too soft. Excellent hiking boot and very comfortable immediately.
Zack W The Timberland Chocorua Trail Mid with Gore-Tex Hiking Shoes is perfect for day hikes and all other outdoor activities; they are designed to wear in snow with crampons. Enjoy it, and stay safe out there! Zack.
WALTER B I don't use crampons so I am unable to answer the question. They would appear to accept use but I am not an expert. Sorry.
THOMAS C I don't see why not, however I do not know what the requirements are for boots to accept strap-on crampons. The soles on these boots are not very stiff.
MICHAEL G Not sure. I use them for work and I love them. Very comfortable and durable.
HAROLD A D I have never used crampons. I can say that I have used snowshoes with these boots and they worked fine.
Regards and good hiking.
Brian N I'm not positive on the verbiage, and so I apologize. I am referring to crampons which are designed for soft hiking boots. I can't tell if the back of these boots have a lip on it to accept the rear attachment for the crampons. An example on this site would be something like Hillsound Trail Crampon Pro. Thanks all.
JOEL B Honestly, don't know what they are????
LAURENCE E B I have never used crampons on anything, but I can tell you the leather on the Timberland Chocorua is quite soft and flexible, in case that matters.
ROBERT H like the boot, good support for mountain terrain, sorry dont know what a strap-on crampon is. Barry Hall
Andrew P How are these in the snow? Do they keep you feet relatively warm and dry? I want a pair of boots for 3-season hiking and shoveling snow in the winter.
ADAM O I've had these boots for a couple of winters now and they are wonderful. I bought them right before the DC Snowmageddon (1.5 to 2 feet of snow on 2 different occasions) and wore them all throughout the blizzards and the cleanup...My feet never got wet. They've also been through some rainy, snowy, and frigid football games (to include 8 hours of tailgating), and my feet stayed dry. And even for not being insulated my feet stay pretty warm. Just put on a pair of wool socks and you'll be fine. I've even used these for hiking in the summer and they performed great then, too. Overall I would absolutely recommend these boots.
PAUL R Andrew,
Yes, these are great boots. I have hiked for two hours in the snow and they have kept my feet warm and dry. The boots also have a great sole for tracttion. They are a lot of boot for the money. I just hope that they keep making them so that I can buy another pair when the boots I have wear out.
Paul
JOHN G with a pair of wool socks on my toes get a little numb after about 4 hours of being out side. I keep mink oil on them and have never had wet feet
KRISTINA J Andrew, My husband is on his 3rd pair and loves this boot. He is a compliance inspector for a power company and wears these when he does not have to climb the poles. We live in a fair-weather climate, so this info does not completely address your question, but we do go to the snow during ski season and he just puts snow seal on the boots. He is away right now on assignment, wearing these boots!
Mrs. J.
WALTER B As long as the water does not come up over the top these boots are not only comfortable but DO remain dry. If there is any small complaint is that in warm weather, unless you are wearing wicking socks, these can get fairly too warm. I have two pairs of these and love them. I would not consider any other brand of boots other than Timberland.
HAROLD A D Andrew,
I have been using these boots, (bought multiple pairs), for about 8 years now. They are very good in the snow, however you may need to snow proof them every once in a while. They keep my feet warm and dry. They are very comfortable and I like thaat i can get a wide size. I would highly recommend these boots. I do a ton of trail hiking while birding all year long.
Regards, Hank
THOMAS C They are gore-tex, so your feet will stay dry. I used these to walk a short distance to work and they stayed dry in deep snow as well as slush and puddles. However, they don't have any insulation, so they won't keep your feet warm during extended periods in very cold weather. I would reccomend wool socks with these boots, during any season.
Shopper Do these shoes run pretty much "true to size" or do they run a little larger??
SunnySports S These tend to run pretty true to size. I have only had on complaint about the sizing and it was that they where a 1/2 size small. Vast majority say they fit true to size. Don't worry too much about sizing because we have the PFF guarantee on this item. The PFF ( Pressure Free Fit) means we'll arrange return of your item and bring you another size - without additional shipping costs. Our PFF Guarantee makes shopping for Outerwear, Footwear and other Apperal real easy. stay safe and have fun out there! Shopper Is this the Brown / Green version Item #15130 Timberland has on their web site?
SunnySports S Great question! Yes, this is the current model style #15130, that is on Timberlands website. Stay safe and have fun out there! Neal
Shopper How likely are the seams of this boot to begin separating after a summer of working heavily with the forestry?
SunnySports S Very Unlikely. I"ve had Timberland boots that lasted several years of hard hiking.
