It has the most useful components necessary to teach land navigation especially with the luminious bezel/dual sighting positions. You can use it with a single hand while in motion. I like it and consider it close to perfection.

It is a classic base plate compass with adjustable declination, a large mirror, and clear base plate for easy navigation. The precision needle rides on a jeweled bearing in a liquid filled cell for minimal friction and maximum accuracy with quick settling times. Shopper can this compass be used in the southern hemisphere?

MUNIB J I don't think that there is anything special about this compass which makes it only for northern or only for southern hemispheres. I think that, if you know how to use a map, and you know which side of the needle points toward the northern/southern magnetic poles, then you should be able to use any compass in the southern hemisphere.
