Comments about Tubbs Flex ALP 24 Snowshoe (pair):

Just got back from a weekend in the Sierras. Tried my new FlexAlps out near Carson Pass (elev. 8500). Wanted to see how they'd perform going up, and boy they did not disappoint! Traction was excellent even on very steep pitch. Performance was only average in deep snow, but I was prepared for this having read several reviews that cited this as a "con".

Comments about Tubbs Flex ALP 24 Snowshoe (pair):

first pair of snowshoes. used once so far, on Mt. Baker. absolutely no complaints. one minor issue--the rear adjustment band doesn't always stay in its 'catch-tab', but this doesn't affect the performance.

had a blast. 3-4 hours of trekking with a short lunch break on a ridge top. not bad for a first hike. felt like nothing was on the boots. going downhill was cool. kept looking for steeper pitches to challenge. ain't no mountain steep enough.

kept telling my wife they give the same freedom as our sea kayaks--go here, go there, no need to stick to the beaten path. i like downhill, my wife likes backcountry. found the happy medium. did we luck out with this product or are they just that much fun. plan to go every weekend, long past the end of ski season.

Comments about Tubbs Flex ALP 24 Snowshoe (pair):

These snowshoes work great, the only reason I am giving them 4 stars is that they're not as easy to get into as I first thought. When you go to tighten the front straps, it's hard to get a grip on the fabric. There are loops on both pieces that you have to pull, but if you have gloves on the loops are to small to get your fingers in.
