Comments about The North Face Heckler Daypack:

I purchased this with the hope it would be the last day pack I ever buy, I'm fairly confident that with this bag I have that. Let me explain what I use it for to get my perspective. Up in the Northwoods of Minnesota my wife, young daughter and I go on hiking trips once or twice a week in spring, summer & fall and I go on my own little excursions alone in winter. I'm a bit of a nut & never leave unprepared, I strongly believe in setting myself up to handle most situations & also feel "any fool can be uncomfortable." My wife carries the pack with food & drink & I carry everything else. Flashlight, cotton tinder, fire steel, file, tent stakes, folding saw, 2 liter dry bag, carabiner, matches, fatwood, water purification tabs, binoculars, magnifying lens, 10' by 10' cover tarp, 6' by 6' ground tarp, fleece throw, hatchet, hand crank radio, all kinds of cordage and paracord, gorilla tape, 9" bushcraft knife, 1 liter nalgene bottle & 20oz stainless bottle.
With all that I still have plenty of room for some other stuff I'll be getting like a compass, etc. This bag is quite large & very spacious. We do not do any overnight hiking but with this bag if I cut back on a couple items, used a hammock for sleeping & was summer time I could probably go out on my own with everything for a single overnight hike/camp.
My old pack was a different brand that was about 12 years old. Great all purpose bag but I needed more room & wanted some extra features, like straps. If you have never used a pack with the chest strap & belt strap, like myself before this pack, you don't know what you are missing. I can't stress how much of a comfort improvement these make, it can't be overstated. Instead of almost all the weight going on the shoulder straps & digging into your back, giving you neck strain & all that garbage, these straps equally spread the weight around & makes the pack feel like a part of you. The straps have a breathable vent design that I'm sure I'll appreciate once summer arrives.
The elastic pouches on each side are great too. With the pack on me tight I can reach my hand behind myself & grab my water bottles without taking the pack off.
I could go on & on about this pack so to finalize, this is the ultimate day pack. If you waned to minimalist it out & go on a 2-3 day hike with overnight camping this pack can provide that. I go a little overkill & if we get lost in the woods or any other event, I have enough supplies to comfortably get through a 72 hour emergency with my wife & young daughter no problem. I have total peace of mind in a 72 hour event we would need to get through.

Comments about The North Face Heckler Daypack:

Careful consideration of North Face models concludes that this one has the best capacity/cost ratio. It's big enough to work as a gym bag but less bulky and more flexible. Sunny Sports is has the best selection, price and service. Five stars!

Great pack for both my school stuff and gear for a day hike. Also provides enough space to pack clothes and other items if you are going away for a few days.
