Comments about MSR Evo Tour 22 Snowshoes (pair):

Any of the MSR snowshoes should be considered "Best in Class" for mountaineering. They work well in any condition on the higher peaks. From snow packed trail, to deep snow, to wind scalped stone and icy summits this set of snowshoes function as stable hiking platform, snow floatation, and crampon all-in-one. Typically, there's no need to freeze your fingers off changing into crampons. The group of hikers I'm involved with have all switched from the aluminum framed, fabric/webbed base shoes to these hard plastic and exceptionally lightweight shoes. The agressive toe and edge crampon design lets you traverse 90 degrees to the slope face, without fear of punching out downhill. The shortened toe piece and mechanical articulation allows a good step kick when breaking steep trails. The only drawback is that the shoes are a bit noisy on hard packed snow and ice...probably not a good choice for winter bird watching, hunting, or any stealthy applications.

Comments about MSR Evo Tour 22 Snowshoes (pair):

They are very easy to strap on over your own winter boots. The traction spikes on the bottom are made of steel and they are under the toe area as well as along the side rails so you get plenty of traction.

The extension for larger sized individuals work well and are easy to install without tools.
