Comments about Marmot Limelight 2P Tent with Footprint and Gear Loft:

I own two ultra light tents the Big Angus Copper Spur 3 and MSR Carbon Reflex 2. Both are excellent light weight backpacking tents. However they both come with a high price tag for that lighter weight tent. I needed another tent to take my teenage grandchildren backpacking and to borrow out to friends in place of my more expensive tents. The new tent needed to be stronger and be able take a little more abuse that kids or inexperience campers can give a tent. But I did not want to pay the price that the other ultra light tents come with, but weight was also a factor. I choose the Marnont Lime Light 2 tent my niece has the Lime Light 2 and I seen how it has preformed these last two years. She has been with us on numerous backpacking trip with us in Montana, the Superior Hiking Trail along the North shore of Lake Superior and canoeing in the BWCA. This tent has been put under some severe weather conditions that would test any tent. I was amazed at how well the tent preformed and held up on each of these trips. This is not a wimpy tent at all yet easy to set up. I know some reviews cited condensation as a problem and water splashing up under the fly. We saw none of these problems during some very heavy winds and rainy conditions. If you compare the fabric in the fly and tent body of the Lime Light it is made of 78d ripstop nylon which is a more heavier and stronger course thread used in the fabric which gives you a more durable fabric then the light 20d ripstop nylon used in ultra light tents. The waterproofing test done on the Lime Light fly is set at a higher standard at 1800mm compared with the ultra light fabric testing out at 1200mm to 1500mm.This tent was set up and taken down in the rain and still perform great. The only problem was the weight, as a backpacker your always counting ounces and ounce are dollars. Another way to look at the weight is to get a tent that is 16 ounce lighter then the Lime Light it is going to cost to a minimum of $100.00 or more and this put you in a whole new range of tents to choose from. This is why the lime light is a good value. This tent shares many of the same design and material used in more expensive tents and is not in the 7lbs to 8lb weight rang found in cheaper tents. Plus it comes with its own foot print. Like all two person tents the Lime Light is a tight fit for two adults, but workable, great for two kids and perfect for one adult. All around it is a good tent.

Comments about Marmot Limelight 2P Tent with Footprint and Gear Loft:

For years I used a Eureka Timberline 2 tent. It served me fairly well, but it had it's drawbacks. Way too hot in warm/hot summer temps, and somewhat less than protective in driving rains.
Man the Limelight 2 does so much better with both these problems. It has such superior ventilation, does so much better in warm/hot temps. The full fly covers the tent so much better. Even in severe storms it stays dry. Also its rounded shape stands up to serious winds so much better.
        I love this tent.

Comments about Marmot Limelight 2P Tent with Footprint and Gear Loft:

Bought this tent for my sons boy scouting aventures. Tent has worked out great and is very easy for a 10 yr old to set up and take down. The included footprint is a plus.
