Pros

  • Lightweight
  • Simple

Cons

  • Restrictive Draw

Best Uses

  • 10 Essentials Kit
  • Survival kit

This filter does what it advertises and it is nice being able to use it as a straw, attached to narrow-mouth bottles, and inline. The weight is a big plus, along with the cost. I like the removable internal prefilter element.

The biggest issue I have with this filter is how difficult it is to draw water through the filter. It requires quite a bit of effort to get water pulled through the filter - enough effort that it is slightly fatiguing after a few pulls.

I haven't suffered any ill effects from drinking lake water using this filter, although I am selective about my water sources. I'm not worried about viruses where I camp and hike, so the filter pore size meets my needs.

I keep this in my 10 essentials kit because it works and it is lightweight.
