Best Air Mattress / Sleeping Pad EVER!

Comments about Kelty Basecamp Sleeping Pad - Double Wide:
I am so dang sick of buying a new air mattress every year or two (or more than one per year) because they get holes and I patch them and they get more holes and I patch them and... I'm sick of it.I had a single-person Coleman self-inflating camping pad for years, but it was no good because I would always slip off it. It was too small, and wasn't non-slip.This one is AWESOME. It's big enough that my sweetie (or a friend) can both be on it (with a blanket underneath for warmth), sleeping comfortably. There's no slipping off. There's no "human taco" effect from a deflating air mattress. This double wide sleeping pad is the best thing since sliced bread. It made sleeping in the woods (on both forest duff as well as a dustier, slightly rockier/pebbly terrain) as comfortable as sleeping on my firm mattress at home.I let mine self inflate, then put about 10-15 breaths in each one, and it's perfectly, exactly where I want it to be. You'll love it.I had two friends try it out this last weekend, and they're both probably buying one. It's that good.

We were looking for a comfortable warm double pad to use for a fully supported week long bike ride. Size and weight were not an issue. This pad was wonderful and we slept well every night. Recommend that you unroll and let sit for a couple of days before your first trip. From the factory the pad is so compressed that it does not inflate automatically. Once it is used the first time, we found that it only took three short breaths to make it firm. The velour surface does pick up lint and down feathers from our sleeping bags. A lint roller before storing took care of the issue. Took us three times to figure out the best way to roll up the pad. First, do not fold for the first compression. Roll up (there should be two of you since it's a double) with both of you using your knees to compress, close the valves, and then unroll, fold, and roll again. The only thing I would change about this pad is the orientation of the straps. The design is made to roll with the velour side out, it would be better to have it in the inside when packed.

This mat is perfect for tent camping when you don't want to sleep directly on the ground. The two of us slept so comfortably on our camping trip we actually overslept. Before, we tented without a mat and were up all night. If you want to have a firmer mat, blow air into it before sealing. I love how we can just unroll and its ready to go when we are ready for bed. The only thing to remember is when packing up, you need to roll it twice to be able to get it in the bag. Once to get as much air out as you can, and the second to finish the job and fit it in the storage bag. Love this!
