Comments about GCI Outdoor Xpress Lounger XL:

Nice idea but the chair is heavy for what it is designed for.

2 big problems:

1.) My butt hangs off the back of the chair a couple inches. Which isn't a HUGE problem (pun intended) but feels disconcerting nonetheless.

2.) The uprights in the back jab into my shoulders and is VERY uncomfortable.

I read about both of these in other reviews and I bought this XL version on purpose to try and resolve. Didn't work, same problem.

Comments about GCI Outdoor Xpress Lounger XL:

Little background. I'm 5'9" and a bit heavy. Not fat, heavy. I wanted a compact folding chair I could toss a couple into the car and have whenever I needed it at parties, kids events, and even camping. I have some great Alps chairs that are sturdy and comfy, but don't fold down all that compactly and are heavy. This GCI chair looked great in its foldable design.

Now for the problem: I had no issue with set up unlike others. If you watch the little video that GCI has, you pick it up fast. However, when I sat in it, 3 main things wrong. 1.) You feel like the back of your butt is hanging off the back of the chair a couple inches 2.) the back uprights dig into your back just under the shoulders (and I'm NOT that wide!) and 3.) the back wobbles side to side and feels cheap. Not a chair I'd ever feel comfortable in.

I plan on seeing if this chair will work for my short, smallish mother. She could also use something foldable to keep in her car. However, she may find it a bit heavy. I have no problem dealing with it but she might. It is heavier than it looks.

Back to the drawing board.
