I ordered these pants in preparation for a fishing trip last year to Canada (Ontario in June). I was told that they were a must for the rapidly changing weather.

Sure enough, we were fishing in a boat in sunshine and a half hour later the rain is coming in sideways with a stiff winds as it moved across the lake.

At the first sign of rain, I was able to quickly slip the Columbia Regen Rain Pants on over my pants and boots that I was wearing, securing the cuffs with the velcro straps at the cuffs, and was kept bone dry.

They are light and I kept them squished down in my backpack and took them out as needed (which was almost once or twice a day at times). Great buy!
