Great Down Jacket

By TheBoot

First, the fit. I'm 6'0, about 175 lbs and fairly athletic build. I wear size 42L in a suit jacket and have a 35 inch sleeve. If you're close to that size and looking for a 'fitted' feel, go with the Medium in this jacket: Large will feel too bulky, especially if you want to layer this under a shell. Now, the jacket itself. 650 fill power, so not too puffy buy plenty warm for conditions down to freezing: haven't tested in sub 30 degree conditions yet. The chest pocket is great for pho...

great mid layer down Jacket

By Wayne N.

I'm 5'10 &225lb. with a beer gut and a large fits a little snug but works great for mid layering. Looks stylish around town. I used it this weekend for 2 nights with temperatures down in the high 20's & low 30's with a base layer, polyester shirt and the down Jacket and felt warm around the camp fire .haven't used it long enough to know about the durability but so far it has worked as advertised. I would recommend it.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  I did appreciate the link to OR's size charts; however, neither Sunny Sports nor POR provides any specific information on sleeve length. Is there any more help on this?
MADISON M  I am about 5-8 with average proportions and have a small. I think it fits great. The sleeves are about 26 in from the attachment at the shoulder to the cuff. The elastic cuffs keep them right at my wrist but are not tight or restrictive. The body is fairly slim and not real bulky, which makes it easy to stay active and good for wearing under a shell of rain jacket. Great down jacket and quite warm.
SCOTT M  I've got a medium and I'd say the sleeve length is probably 34-35. I wear an exact 34.5 sleeve in dress shirts, amd 6'0 and 175lbs and the medium fits me about as close as I'd want it to. In other words, when I stretch my arms in front of me the sleeve pulls up about an inch above my wrist bones but leaving my arms hanging at my sides has the sleeves comfortably covering the wrist bones. If you want a roomier fit I'd go large since its about another inch in the sleeves and quite a bit roomier in the torso. I tried large but it was too big for what I wanted it for: to layer it under a hard shell and over a nothing more than a thin baselayer. If you want to layer it over anything thicker, size up since you'll need it in the torso and sleeves.
Shopper  What medium size means in this brand? There is not size chart anywhere. Thanks
Zack W  Please follow the link below to see the manufacturer's size chart; http://www.outdoorresearch.com/en/or-gear/mens-transcendent-sweater.html enjoy it! Zack.
SCOTT M  The website here says the hem is elastic, but everywhere else (including the OR website) says the hem is adjustable drawcord. I realize this may have changed over a season or two as different versions come out. Can you please confirm whether or not this is adjustable drawcord or elastic?
FREDERICK C  Mine has a drwcord.
CHARLES H  It has an adjustable elastic drawcord waist.
DAVID F  The one I purchased has elastic on the sleeves an draw cord at the waist. It's a great jacket/sweater. Hope this helps. David.
MARK A  Drawcord at waist, elastic on cuffs.
DAMON C  It has a drawstring with a clip on the left and the right side of each hip.
