This is my second Sombriolet Sun hat. It caught my eye because I have bought so many sun hats that squeeze my larger than average head to the point of headaches. The large size was just what I needed. The brim is a perfect size for shading my face. The vents actually prevented sweat from dripping down into my eyes, and, I thought I was pretty cute as well. I would recommend this hat to anyone spending time outside.

This hat can be stuffed into a pocket, but the rim quickly returns to its round form for good shade. The rim has enough stiffness to return to form after a stiff breeze pushes it up or down. Very useful for sunny climes. It fits my large (XL) head and has an adjustment to make a tighter fit.

can this hat be washed, and if so, how well does it stand up to washing?

Yes, I wash by hand in the sink then let it air dry. In Florida we volunteer walking dogs daily in the hot sun and rainy days. My hat has lasted over three years. I wash it in the sink with laundry soap then rinse it and hang it up. Just purchase my third hat... Have use it for years.

3 inches in front and sides, tapers to 4 inches in back. The wider back is designed to keep rain off your neck. I love this hat and have two. Comfortable (no rivets), easy to pack, light weight. Way more comfortable and handy than the ever-popular Tilly hat.

It's 3-1/8". Holds its shape pretty well, too, except that the front of the brim flips up in a strong headwind (which drives me crazy when I'm kayaking).

The Sun Hat is made of 86% nylon and 14% polyester it is a very comfortable hat very nice looking and sheds the shade off my neck well . It is half price compared to some of the competitors hats that are out there I would buy another one just like this one once this one wears out but I anticipate it will be a long time
