I work outside. Lots of wind and rain. The hat stays secure and keeps the rain out, off my neck and glasses. It also blocks the sun and light enough to wear as a sun hat. Bottom line - I love it and would buy it again.

I too am a women & ordered a small & it fits great. I have a full thick head of hair & I have no complaints at all with this hat. It does have a velcro adjustment inside also which will give you an extra inch of adjustment. My husband ordered a large. We bought them after seeing them on a ranger in Denali, Alaska. As soon as we got home we ordered them. Never regret buying them. We use them kayaking & trout fishing.

I am an XL/7 3/4 inch/62 cm. head, and find OR's sizing true. There is a Velcro adjustable band (interior, rear access) to loosen or snug fit.

Water proof and packs down small of flat if you prefer. Back of brim slightly larger to keep water off neck/ upper back. I like in conditions where it is to warm to use a Gore-tex jacket but still want some protection. Also great when conditions are just cool enough for a rain jacket, but putting up the hood then makes it too warm; jacket and hat work great in this scenario. My brother is now envious and wants one as well.

I would prefer the reverse, larger in front, whatever in back. My problem is that I wear glasses and need not only ti protect my faces, but also my glasses. Thank you for your precise statement.

I also wear glasses and the hat works for me. The extended brim in the rear keeps rain from running off the hat down the back of my neck. I suppose you could wear it backwards.

It's pretty wide.The hat is not in front of me now, but it looks great and is able to keep most of your shoulder are dry too (it probably covers the area to your AC joints). Honestly, I use this hat in the Northwest and it can be a lifesaver in a downpour. It's a great piece of gear.

Its in the 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 inch range. Great hat for rain and snow. The brim does not collapse on your brow or over your eyes. Brim is plyable to adjust to conform to whatever setting you want (not like baseball cap brim). Hope this helps
