This jacket is exactly what I've been looking for!

I don't climb mountains & I don't ski or snowboard down them either. What I am though is a woman that has lived her entire life in the cold, windy &
relentlessly wet Pacific Northwest.
I commute to work by bus & for years I have been looking for a durable & warm coat big enough to wear over bulky hoodies & scarves... & yet, still light enough that I don't feel weighted down while trying to get where I'm going. Victory! I have finally found it in this winter jacket.
If you know anything a...bout NW weather then you know how torrential the rain can be. I have already worn this in pouring rain & was amazed to watch the fabric bounce the water right off of it.
Even though I don't ski or snowboard, I still love jackets that have the inner elastic bottom & snapping feature that keeps out snow. I've had other jackets that are stiff in this area & make it feel as if they are tugging on me while I'm walking. The elastic on this jacket is very pliable & doesn't tug at the layers underneath it at all.
The interior fabric is smooth & easily slides over what I'm wearing underneath, making it feel super comfy & roomy. This is important to me because the last thing I want to focus on during cold wet weather is an uncomfortable coat. Even though it's a big winter coat that holds my body heat in incredibly well, it doesn't feel bulky or heavy at all. This jacket makes me feel like I'm bundled up in a silky soft warm blanket.
The bonus feature of the thumb holes on the inner cuff layer of the sleeves was unexpected, & has quickly become a necessity I didn't know that I wanted or needed.
Forwhatitsworth... if I was a skier or snowboarder I can see how this jacket would work fabulously for those activities, &/or anything snow related. It just happened that I needed this jacket for my fall & winter commute instead. Now I feel militarized against the weather & I'm kinda excited for the next storm I have to slodge my way through. Finally I'm winning at coat'ing!!
The jacket is excellent and has kept my wife comfortable all winter in various activities outdoors. We did have to order a replacement at a different size as the jacket fits larger than described. Even though her measurements matched the size we purchased initially, it was too big. Great jacket, though!!!!
Fully seam-taped waterproof, stretchy snow and ski jacket built with environmentally-friendly VerticalX ECO insulation for warmth that feels good, and does good.
The new Snowcrew Kit was built for skiers and snowboarders who chase powder days with their crew and lap the lifts until the last run. Resort-dialed features and fit deliver performance, warmth, and style, with a 56% recycled shell material and 85% recycled insulation to reduce harm on the environments we love to play in. The Snowcrew Jacket features an adjustable hood that uses a secure wire brim to hold its shape in bad weather, has Outdoor Research's famous HoodLock feature to control excess fabric, and that fits most snowsports helmets. Pit zips make it easy to vent excess heat when you're working up a sweat, and a powder skirt prevents snow from wetting your base layers when you're trying a new park jump. Whether you're getting out there for the first time, or you know your local park's runs in every condition from opening day to late season, you can't go wrong with the Snowcrew Kit.
