Used hiking White Mountains in NH. Outer mitts over glove liners makes a nice combination for hiking. I take hands out of mitts to take photos or adjust equipment but they warm back up when I put the outer mitts back on. I have used both inner and outer mitts over glove liners in extreme cold/wind but almost too much.
Also nice to have waterproof/Goretex outer mitt for when you are in mixed conditions.
Super warm Mitts

I am a snowboard instructor and it seems every year I am alway looking for a new pair of mitts that will hopefully be warmer than my last pair. I am always outside in variable conditions, add having Raynaud's and my fingers are always cold. These mitts are awesome though, my fingers are finally too warm. I liked that both the liner and outer shell can really be their own mitt. I also like the durability of the outer shell and that the liner wicks pretty well, because believe me your hands ...will sweat. My only gripe is the bulkiness, but honestly I'll take the bulkiness over cold fingers.
