Good Tent

By Joe

It is a very strong, wind-resistant, waterproof tent, but the set up is a little difficult. It's not like a breeze to set the tent up. I have learned to insert the short pole first before you put the cross poles up. If you do that, it will make it easier. It takes practice. After 5 times, I do fine. The interior is large and the ventilation inside the tent is awesome. You will not have moisture inside the tent if you open all the tent windows. The only drawback of this tent is when you open ...

Quick and easy setup. Tested it out on a windy night on Mt. Adams and it held up great!

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

eddy d  I would like to know how the vents ( if any ) are protected from rain/snow entering? Is this tent an icebox compared with a double skin tent? Is condensation a problem in cold weather?
MIKE H  There are vents on the front and rear with small awnings that have mesh and fabric zip up panels. When open, they'll keep out rain and snow in mild wind conditions. This is primarily a high altitude, lightweight tent to use with or without the vestibule. With the vents open, it breathes very well and condensation is held to a minimum. Don't expect any tent, when closed up, to stay dry. I have only used it solo and while venting, it provides the best compromise of dryness and air movement to allow your insulating gear to do their jobs. I'm 5'10", 165 lbs. and it makes for a roomy solo shelter with all my gear inside. It would be a snug fit for two people, but a great weight saving option for multi day summit bids. I used it in very high winds on a glacier, bending it enought to drop socks off of the upper shelf and it held up great... just had to tie the vestibule zipper closed!
KALEN L  I have used this tent several times, I noticed on hot days the condensation was a little annoying but I usually sleep in a hammock durring the summer so all tents are annoying to me. The tent durring the winter is flawless withstands very cold nh weather. Very flammable though I had a spark from a fire land on the side wall very small hole in it but that's user era should have been aware of the distance of the fire. The tent is very light in weight and has a vestibule which is great to keep a few packs in. The zippers glow in the dark and has a overhead pocket. I give this tent a 8 out of 10.
STEPHEN J  I used the tent in the Sierras last February--cold and snowy. Condensation was not a problem as I left the flap open. Snow did not get in. The tent was exactly what I was hoping it would be. I also camped out last year in the fall in Wisconsin when it was raining. Although water did not collect on the bottom of the tent, after several hours of constant rain, there was a very slow drip on one of the edges of the tent. I would not buy this tent if I were going to spend days backpacking in the Smoky Mountains in the spring, summer, or fall. It is a great winter tent, and for my purposes--hiking and ski touring--I am extremely satisfied with it. Next month, I am again going to the Sierras and will up-date my answer. I hope this helps.
Shopper  Does this tent have a footprint available?
KYO H  Yes. According to the North Face. I saw the picture and price from there, but I used my large size Poncho with modification, because I did not want to carry extra weight in my backpack for foot print only. I purchased 5/8" packaged Eyelet tool comes with 4 sets of eyelets from Michel's for $6 (Size - 5/8") to make four punched hole on each corners and hole can be secured. Brand name was Sewing Basket. Those eyelets were just perfect fit with tent pole. Even though I used several tent before, I recommend this is one of really perfect attack tent for four seasons with good price. You will enjoy and not regret for good price.
JOSHUA P  No... The tent is its own footprint.
