This is my return to a backpack after a decade of carrying messenger bags. I was getting tired of the neck strain and restriction of a cross-body laptop bag with a fairly heavy laptop, power block, etc - and decided to give this backpack a try. On my first day carrying it, I felt 1000% more comfortable carrying my computer and couldn't believe I waited this long to switch! This bag has very comfortable straps, is very adjustable, has chest and waist straps (but the waist strap can be "hidd...en" if you're not using it). There is great internal organization for small items. The laptop section is well-padded and I carry my computer without an additional sleeve; but at the same time, it is not so padded that the bag is too bulky for other uses. I plan to make this my primary travel bag as well. I am very happy with this purchase.
it is stylish and functional. good color match. But expensive still.

Yes, it is the most durable back pack that our girls have ever bought. They took these backpacks on a service trip to Jamaica and LOVED them. this is actually the second year that they are using them and they are still like new! great product!

Not really. If you plan on using this pack in rain, you will need either a pack cover or a waterproof stuff sack to keep stuff dry.

Not, it isn't.

Is the back cushion of fabric covering (polyester) like the newer versions of this backpack or the old mesh covering back cushion? Thanks

I have no idea whether my recon backpack is considered as new version as my backpack does not have mesh covering the back cushion. The only mesh covering is for the front and sides of backpack.
DIANA A
It is not mesh. It´s a softer fabric that doesn´t scratch.
