Comments about The North Face Hotlum 15F Down Sleeping Bag - Regular Size:
i use this for 3 season camping.i have two bags, my girlfriend prefers this one as "its cosy".its a well priced bag, only bad thing i can say about it is it packs a little large. as above i would recommend it to a friend. please note i have only used this bag a couple of times in an Australian spring so no serious temps yet.

This is the first down bag I've had since I had a military down bag as a kid. Those were anvils compared to the Hotlum. I'm really enjoying the Hotlum down into the freezing temperatures. No cold spots, nice seal around my head too and a comfy fit to the hood. I thought I'd miss a chest baffle like what are on my synthetic bags but I don't at all. The Hotlum doesn't have one but it's not an issue because the bag works very well.I had some rain come in through an open tent door and get on the shell of the Hotlum and it beaded right up and it was simple to shake it off. No penetration. This is one comfortable bag. The material feels great to sleep in. Nice and soft, not sticky or slippery. The cut of the bag is roomy enough to move around in if you have to. It does not feel cramped but it also doesn't feel like there is wasted space. I'm 5'9" and 150 lbs. I have the regular length and it's perfect for me. I can even toss some clothes down into the bottom and still have plenty of room. No cramping or conceding length. It's like the bag grows slightly to accommodate if extra length is needed. The only nit I'l have to pick with this bag will come a long time down the road when it finally needs to be laundered. Hopefully that will be a long time from now. Down requires more care and effort compared to a synthetic bag. I usually sleep in light poly tops and lowers so oil and sweat doesn't soak into the bag.SunnySports had the best price on the bag and now I'm really glad I got it after years of procrastination. I don't know now if I can go back to synthetic. Down can really spoil you.
