I shopped around a LOT and this bag was the best all around value I found. It hits the sweet spot in every area. I'm 6'0" and the regular is perfect for me. With feet touching the bottom the top comes up to my nose. If you are taller or need to cover your entire head with it, get the large.

As others have mentioned, its a bit hard to pack in the enclosed sack they give you but it can be done. I didn't really care about that concern because I intended to get a waterproof compression sack for it anyway. They are inexpensive and one of the best camping investments you can make. So while some rate the tight bag as a "con" I could care less.

Regarding the temp rating, I had a 20 degree bag from North Face over 20 years ago and camped at that temp several times and it held perfectly. This one feels exactly like it. As with any manufacturer temp rating, it is almost always predicated on three crucial preconditions: being in a tent that blocks the wind, sleeping on a quality pad and wearing a thin but warm base layer. Simply throwing it on the cold ground and climbing in wearing a speedo or a pair of wet jeans will lead to dissapointment. Many people forget the pad part of the equation though. Its essential not only for general comfort but for taking full advantage of the bag's temp rating. This is a 20F/-7C degree bag and for the money can't be touched. You can also sleep comfortably in the Dolomite.

Also with any bag, you can get a thin, leightweight liner and get another 10 degrees or so out of any temp rating and I recommend doing so as that gives you options, which is key. No sense getting a colder bag when 95% of your camping is going to be at this bag's temp rating or higher, amitire? As it gets warmer, this bag will stay fomrfortable zipped up well into the late spring, early summer ranges. A full length zipper will take care of the rest.

As for comfort, your legs will thank you for not getting a mummy bag. If you plan on base camping on Everest or whatever, then by all means get those insanely expensive −40 mummy bags or whatever. But for a full 3 (or depending on where you live 3.5 to 4...like Einstein said, everything's relative!) season bag with a 20F/-7C temp rating go with a rectangular bag its worth it big time. I have broad shoulders and the Dolomite is big enough, but just barely. It offers plenty of room to roll over and sleep without feeling like you're being swaddled against your will, but unless you're tiny you won't get lost in it. You can unfold it and mate 2 together. When you do I swear its bigger than the sum of its parts. Or unzip it at home and use it as a comforter/throw.

As others have mentioned, the zipper can snag if you just yank on it like you're starting a lawnmower but if you're even a little careful with it you won't have that problem. There's an insulated flap around the zipper and a little pocket to store things although its on the outside of the bag. Whatever, that's what gear pockets in your tent is for anyway. It has a drawstring around the top that is a bit awkward to operate even with 2 hands but I don't use that anyway.

To get this much bag at this price point, the weight is right on. Yeah if you're a rich gear junkey and can spend ten times as much for gear just to shave off a few ounces great. But the tiny bit extra this bag weighs is more than made up for in value and legroom. This bag may not be for the high speed, low drag professional camper, but its one of the best choices out there for the rest of us. Get at least two and never look back. You won't regret it.

we retirees are planning to use the bags in Jordan this winter while trekking in the Petra area. to be fair, too early to rate but went by price/brand.

I wanted a double bag or two bags that would combine into one for camping trips with my girlfriend. I couldn't find many mummy-style bags that would mate and decided that the versatility and extra room for some separation during warmer eves made the decision to get two Dolomites easy. I had no problem rolling the bags tight enough to fit in the stuff sacks (I wouldn't call them compression sacks) or sleeping comfortably in 27 degree temps on the first night. I like the built-in pockets that I use for ear plugs. The fabric is smooth and luxurious. The only reason that I didn't give the product 5 stars is because one bag has a zipper around an inch and a half shorter than the other so when we zipped them all the way up and pulled the elastic cord to cinch the top, over an inch of exposed zipper would scratch my neck. This shouldn't be a problem during warmer weather when they'll be partially zipped.
