Shopper Is there a difference between the Dolomite and the Dolomite BX?
Also, I see there is a drawstring at the top, another site says there is a hood. Can you clarify?
GREG W There is no hood on mine. There is a drawstring.
PETER S There is no hood. Could not find any "BX" reference on the sleeping bag that I purchased. This is the best sleeping bag I've ever had. I do lots of motorcycle camping year round in the south-east and found this item very comfortable in temperatures ranging from approximately 15 to 90 + deg. F. At 74 in, 215 lbs, I find this bag a perfect fit. Very compact when rolled up.
RICHARD S Yes to drawstring. No to hood. Don't know difference between the two models, but we bought these bags for our whole family in 2009 and they have served us well!
Andrew B Thank all for the responses! I pulled the trigger on this and will be taking back a Mnt. Hrdwre Lamina 20 mummy bag... While that one is long/fairly roomy for a mummy, I'd rather be a little cooler but comfortable (position wise) and pack a few more ounces than get twisted up in the middle of the night and feel constricted (... and I won't be doing anything too extreme, though it won't be car camping).
TONY C I'm not sure of the difference between the Dolomite and the Dolomite BX. I have the Dolomite and love it. I've spent the better part of 10 years buying different bags (15 in all) and feel this is the best combination of comfort/weight for me. I have two of them now and neither have a hood. Its a straight foward, durable, quality built sleeping bag.
BRIAN G There is definitely a drawstring, and no hood. I don't think there is a difference between the between the BX and the Dolomite; I suspect the title just gets abbreviated (I'm not positive, however the North Face site links you to the same page when you search for either). FWIW, I find this an awesome bag for summer and fall camping, as it's not excessively hot and is very roomy. Good luck with your decision, and happy trails!
TIMOTHY H The ones we ordered a couple years ago have an elastic drawstring that goes all the way around the top of the bag. I wouldn't call it a hood, but I suppose it could be pulled rather tight like one.
