Ultra lightweight and compact stove

By STEVEN J.

This is a wonderful, easy to use burner. Set up is a breeze. You can get your heat very low or you can boil a quart of water in no time. This is a little flame thrower if you want it to be. I use this burner mainly for canoe camp trips. It's perfect for perking that morning pot of coffee. It's a stable little unit as long as you don't over do it. It's not made for big dutch ovens or similar sized pots. The carry case is great and takes up very little space in a pack. Keep in mind, the fuel...

I used the pocket rocket every day for every meal for about a month on a cross country adventure. This stove is easy to light and light to carry. It is also durable, it was stepped on while packing camp in the middle of the night, after bending one of the legs of the grill back into place it continued to work like it always has. I have used down to 14F with no problems, and prefer it over the whisper light because it has a more controlled start so I can use it in the vestibule of my tent if...

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Is the fuel good at high altitudes of say 9,000 ft ? I once had a small backpacking stove that used butane canisters and it hardly worked at high altitudes even when I went to bed with it to keep it warm.
RYAN K  Yes, I have used the MSR ISOPRO fuel at elevations of 11,000 ft. and had no issues. You may notice a different color of flame than closer to sea level, This is because of the thiner air and less oxygen at higher elevations. In the experiences that I have had it does not effect the BTU output of the the stove. An excellent choice when combined with the MSR Pocket Rocket stove.
JOSH P  I have used the msr fuel for my pocket rocket stove on numerous occasions over 9000+ and it worked flawlessly. However if you are expecting to encounter high winds I would advise brining a wind screen for your stove as it can be tricky to catch a flame in conditions.
Shopper  Does this product come with a canister?
JASON N  No canister. Just a burner that screws onto a canister. It does come with a compact carrying case. I love my little stove.
DEVIN Q  No. Only the stove
RYAN K  No, It doesn't....but you can pick up one pretty cheap at most local sporting good stores. Its a great little stove, light weight and will boil a cup of water in about 30 seconds!!! I love my pocket rocket.
NATHAN H  No it does not. Its only the burner and plastic case (for the burner only).
CLAY V  Nope.
KENNY B  No...Sold Separately
RICHARD B  I believe I had to purchase a canister separately, but this is a good choice for a lightweight backpacking stove.
BRIAN W  No it does not come with a canister but it is a great little stove.
JONATHAN P  No. Fuel is sold separately. It comes with a plastic case for the stove, and an instruction manual.
WILLIAM E  This stove does not include a canister but you can pick one up at a local retailer such as Dick's Sporting Goods. I purchased my canisters at a Moosejaw, they come in 4oz. and 8oz. sizes.
MARK G  This product is an excellent light weight stove however the canisters are sold separately.
ADAM W  Nope, no canister included; just the top stove element.
SEAN W  Yes, the item comes in a hard, red plastic container. Big enough to just fit the burner when the arms are folded in to the center.
Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
STEVEN G  This is my 2nd Rocket, love them! Small, easy to repair, and works great!
