This jacket is great as a stand-alone outer shell(as long as no heavy precip.)with a medium weight layer down to about 25-30 degrees.I am 5'10" and 185 lbs..I wear a large in all jax.This one fits PERFECTLY WITH A LITTLE X-TRA ON THE SLEEVES as per Marmot's well-known angel-wing movement in arms.The price was half off.Have bought other items from Sunny Sports.ALWAYS get a gr8 price.

does this marmot self pack into a pocket, I see both yes and no???

Yes the jacket can self pack into either pocket. I don't think it was designed to do this but you can do this rather easily since you're dealing with easily compressible down. The reason I say it is probably not designed by Marmot to do this is because when you pack it into the pocket, you do this by pushing the jacket through the pocket from behind and out the zippered opening in the front. You can close it with ease but the zipper is backwards. I've done a lot of backpacking and this jacket will pack into either pocket with ease and does it pretty good. Hope this helps.

Yes, the Marmot Zeus stuffs into a pocket and zips closed. Stuffed size is approximately 9" by 9" by about 5" thick for my size large, although it will compress smaller. Makes for a perfect pillow when I'm backpacking.

I'm 5'7" and weigh 150 lbs. Would a M be too long for me?

My husband is 6'0" and 200 pounds and wears the XL. I would think M seems like the correct size for you? Not sure if this helps. On a side note, he's owned the coat for almost 3 years and it still looks brand new. It's a wonderful coat...he highly recommends it to anyone.
