Shopper Hi, would you say this hat is breathable? Would it be good for a long, fast paced hike or would you overheat?
thank you
ANDREW L I hate wearing hats, even if they are sometimes needed. I want them to be as breathable as possible. This hat isn't as breathable as hats with mesh designs, but offers a greater degree of weather protection. It's light enough that I was able to wear it for sun protection while backpacking, but I did find myself removing it from time to time when it was very hot.
ROGER S It's not real breathable but none of these hi-tech mat'ls really are - I sweat profusely in my Goretex shell. I have two of the hats, tan and green. I use them as lightweight sun/rain hats for hiking, fishing, general summer outdoor stuff and they're quite comfortable.
LEE H I just wore mine for a month in Uganda. For me the hat is indispensable even if it does get a little hot hiking at 90 degrees. Its waterproof so it can't be too breathable but its not unbearable. When we hit the shade I took it off to cool off. I don't like sweaty hair. It is the best waterproof hat I have owned. The strap is a clip-on so, if it get tangled up in a camera strap, it just comes undone instead of breaking.
