Awesome light weight waterproof jacket

By Pete B.

 -  ALBURGH, VT, US

Highly recommend this jacket for it's waterproofness/breathability. Super light weight as well making it easy to pack away to carry along during activities. Got this just in time for a month of cold rain in the Northeast.

Featuring a lightweight, technical design, the Kento Jacket has you covered in high alpine terrain with advanced DRYtech stretch material that's breathable and waterproof. Questions about this item:

Tim H  what is the weight of this jacket?
cindy s  The weight of this jacket is 0.80 lbs.
Shopper  Is this waterproof? can also be used as shell during winter season?
Pete B  I have worn this jacket in some pretty heavy rain. The seams and pockets are sealed and it was totally waterproof. The hood cinches down fairly tight as well with a nice brim in the front for face protection. Not sure as use for a shell as it is a very thin material. Depends on the activity. I would not use for alpine skiing but potentially touring early/late season or in milder temps.
NICHOLAS G  The jacket is waterproof however it's a very thin material jacket so it won't provide much warmth if that's what your looking for too. It could act as a ski shell i suppose however it doesn't have a powder skirt. I would also order on the larger size since Mammut tends to run on the smaller side compared to American sizes.
RICHARD M  Yes, waterproof and it is a shell- BUT. It is a very light shell and euro sizing runs small so order up in size. I'm 6'2" ~215 and XXL is almost too small- little on the tight side for my liking.
FREDERICK G  This is an outer shell both wind proof and water proof. It is not as sturdy as a hardshell for snow sports but could be used as an outer layer combined with a really good fleece and base layer.
RUSSELL P  It is a very thin lightweight jacket. I have not tried this out in a heavy rain and probably would not recommend it. I'm sure it would be fine for repelling light rain or snow if you wore it over a fleece jacket in the winter. Generally mammut products are pretty good. The waterproof layer in this jacket is called 'dry-tech', so it is not a proven gore-tex product.
TODD S  its rated as waterproof. heavy rain will get through more so than goretex proshell. it is not as breathable as goretex proshell. On the plus side, it sheds snow well enough though. and it is a very lightweight shell. i have taken it on week long ski touring trips in dry snow climates to shed weather during period of low exertion and its perfect for that.
Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
Pete B  Mammut makes great quality gear. I have several other pieces and expect this to be just as durable and technical.
