I used this thing in the rockies while it was snowing with a midlayer on. It kept me surprisingly warm while it was snowing in the mid low 30's high 20's :)

If he wears a large in a fleece but the size chart says he would wear a medium ...should he get a large ???

I'm 6' and lean, so I normally wear a medium if the sleeves are long enough. My medium Nitrous fits perfectly. But if he normally wears a large fleece, go with the large.

My experience is that the jacket runs true to size. I personally prefer a bit larger down jacket as I am usually wearing another layer or sweater under it. I have found this to be a really great jacket and take it every where. It is very warm, light and packable so it is my first choice for travel.

wow, thanks for the reply! that's awesome. so correct me if i'm wrong but this site essentially is selling a previous season jacket for 100$ less? because on the mountain hardwear website, this jacket retails for 220$. I'm assuming because that's the 2015 version?
