Great jacket

By DW B.

No issues with the chest size being too bulky for me as stated in another review. I actually had to go up a size from the mountain hardwear recommended sizing. I typically wear a size 40 jacket, which is in the middle of the size M (39-41) for this jacket. After receiving the M, the chest was tight with just a T shirt under it. The large fits me a touch big but this allows room for layering under it.

Exellent lightwieght down jacket

By Andy Y.

Being 6ft tall (add 1/2 inch on Saturday nights) and 200lbs the Extra large fits well. There is just a bit of looseness around the belly. That should give a little lassitude to drink more beer, or allow some room for thicker baselayers. It can also be worn as a midlayer in combo with a windshirt or rain jacket. As it is hooded you can sleep in it to boost the temp rating of your sleeping bag / quilt ect. The baffles are sealed, so no down migration, they are also the right width not to narrow...

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Brandon A  Which year's model is this?
DIANA K  This is the 2017 model.
MILTON B  I got a notice from Sunny Sports to see if I could answer your question. I bought my Ghost Whisperer in Desert Gold color way back in 2014. It was a 2013 model. It is more of a very warm sweater than a real winter jacket and it is extremely light and packable. I have worn it with only a t-shirt at about 10^F. I was warm with the hood up and while walking. It is a very good packable jacket for the backcountry in three season temps. If you need a really warm jacket I would go with a heftier model.
soumya s  Will this be warm enough for a cold Chicago winter?
Carl H  Yes....as long as you layer up.
John S  It's about as warm as a typical fleece sweatshirt. It is much lighter and packs down smaller - great for backpacking. If you were going to be outside all day in anything below 40F, you need something warmer or more layers. If I added a wind shell I'd be good down to freezing.
Gonzalo Martin B  This jacket is quite warm considering its light weight, but it is not wind resistant. With anything more than a breeze you will need an outer windproof shell in order to keep its warmth..
MARK O  Perhaps if you're just jumping between heated areas. Probably not going to be good by itself walking around in a cold freezing wind. It's really more of an ulralight layering puffy. I wear it all the time and love it, but when it drops below freezing and I'll be standing around outside I reach for a heavier puffy.
MILTON B  I have worn mine in +10 weather with just a t-shirt and was fine. With colder temps and wind I would wear it under a shell and even colder with a down vest and long sleeve shirt. If you're willing to layer properly, it will do you just fine. It is made with super light down so if it seems skimpy(thats what I thought at first), give it a try because it is real quality. Do not be afraid to use the hood as it helps significantly to warm you up.
BRUCE Y  No, this jacket has very minimal down insulation and is waist length. It's good for 45°-55°. A longer jacket with 6-10 ozs of down and wind proof fabric would be better for Chicago winters.
WARREN F  If you are warm blooded and/or acctive possibly. If not you may a light fleece underneath. Great jacket either way!
garyt g  Do the sleeves have an elastic band?
Carl H  Yes...........slight stretch and foam seal
MOHD FAIZUL B  Yes
MILTON B  The sleeves do have a slightly stretchable band on the inside of the sleeves. This is not to secure a tight seal to the wrists though. It is to maintain shape of the sleeve ends. The sleeve ends are small enough to prevent much air transport to the arms in any case.
PAUL S  They have a stretchy lining at the sleeve but I wouldn't call them elastic, the sleeves are are tapered. The hood does have an elastic hem.
KIMBERLY M  Yes
MICHAEL S  Yes, it has an elastic band on the cuffs.
JOSEPH T  Yes, the cuffs on the sleeves are elastic and there is no option to adjust the cuffs.
IAN M  yes
KEITH M  Yes
