Shopper Is this a good bag for backpacking, does it pack well?
DENISE C I actually returned this bag because it was bulky and did not compress well so it would not be a good choice for backpacking. I ended up taking another synthetic bag that packed well but I froze. So, next trip I am bringing my down bag in a waterproof outerbag. Happy Trails.
ANITA B At 5' 4 1/2" my feet touched the bottom and it barely covered my head. Being a cold sleeper, I was freezing at 30 degrees and I had to add a fleece liner. It comes with both a storage sack and a compassion type sack that does not compress it down completely. I also used the inflating mat matching this item and my son has a backpacking sleep pad about half the size when stored. My family laughed because my daughter has the pink fir trimmed kids kelty and hers was longer than my bag. My family thought I should switch with her. Her bag would also likely stuff down more if it had a different compression bag. Hers only came with one bag, attached at the bottom and it was more of a storage tote bag size. Her sleeping bag was a tight fit for her mountainsmith youth persuit sleeping bag compartment but it made it with some pushing. My mountainsmith women's juniper pack does not have a separate compartment, just a zipper to remove the sleeping bag from the bottom. I have not tried fitting my sleeping bag in her pack. Hers is the discontinued lotus color, from 2012 I believe.
