Strapped to side of full sized backpack for hikers & canoe campers is doable.
Agree with reviewer who suggested adjustments to less than its minimun lenght would improve versatilty.
Tip: purchased a small KONG (dog toy) to slip over top spike for positioning in center of tarps w/no center grommet.

These poles are great. Way better than the pictures. They are very heavy duty.
They adjust the height from the bottom. This makes it very easy to adjust the height when it's already up. I use mine with the Kelty Noahs Tarp 12. There are many configurations you can make with these poles and tarp. I have used this set up to cover a portion of my tent and as a annex in front of my tent.It works great. I have the North Face Meadowland 4 tent that I use with this set up.These poles make it possibl...e to set up my tarp anywhere. They have held up well in down pours and strong winds.

Pair. The poles are kind of bulky compared to the Noah's tarp but necessary if you don't have something tall to tie the tarp to. I've used mine on 7-10 camping trips and have had no issues.

Price is for one (1) shock-corded sectional pole. Been using a pair since 2008 with good success while car camping. Works well with Noah tarp or other cat cut design when trees are not available for tie outs.
