I bought this for my 10 year old. It fits well now as it is very adjustable, but should grow with him too. I like the padding and straps as he often carries a lot of books in it and it distributes the weight more on his hips. He loves that there is a pocket for everything, and that he can use it for school and hiking. We bought a hydration system that fits nicely in the pack. I was a little hesitant about the outside pocket for his water bottle just being mesh and would have preferred i...t be a solid fabric, but the mesh is very heavyweight and looks like it will last. If not we will take advantage of the Jansport guarantee and send it back. Overall very pleased with the pack!

This Jansport is a great pack. I like the shoulder straps - comfortable with a heavy load. Its square shape can hold a lot. Try to get very heavy items close to your back & high in the pack. It will save your shoulders.
