Shopper Is this big enough for a one-night overnight hike?
MATTHEW H For me this is plenty big for an over-night trip.
ROBERT A Sounds like a simple question, but there are many variables to your question. First, are you going with others so that cooking, food, water filtration, and tent can be divided out betwee yourn party? If not, and you go solo, do you have light and compact gear? If yes, do you have a good dry sack? Pack has straps on bottom and daisy chainon back to secure items on out side securely. If you secure items to outside and go ultra light, you can make it work. I have Big Agnes sleeping bags which use the pad as part of their sleeping system eliminatining the inusation on the bottom of the bag; therefore, packs down smaller and lighter, which can help in your case. Final part of equation, are you going in good weather where you do not need to bring extra layers of clothing/ rain gear? If you can go with basically the clothes on your back, I would say yes.
DOANLD M Yes, it is big enough for an overnight hike. I took this pack on a trip to Ecuador in 2010 and 11. I did stay in a hotel, but it was big enough for 3-4 days of clothes and toiletries. Kent M. - Benton, AR
ELIE F It depends on how much gear you bring. ie: tent size, sleeping bag size, matress pad size, cooking apparatus.. I bought this for my wife, and it was big enough for her to pack clothing, shoes, toiletries and whatnot on a 2 1/2 week trip to Thailand. This pack is designed for a small framed person, and was the only pack that actually fit on my wife, who is 5'3'' and 125lbs.
CARLOMAGNO G Mostly depends on what you plan on packing. This is not the biggest hiking pack but I was able to use it for a whole weekend hike so I am sure if you pack smart you will have no problems.
LISA H Yes, definitely. We got them for scouting overnighters and weekends and they work great. They have held up nice. The rain cover has come in handy a couple times. No complaints.
DOUGLAS J It's more than ample for an all day hike with an overnight .
KENNETH A Easily. I've taken it out for three and four day hikes. It's a good, simple pack.
SHERRY L I took this one on 8-10 day trips to Iceland, Bolivia/Chile, Morocco, Peru for Inca Trail and to Vietnam. It was the only bag I took for each trip. I pack very light however.
WHITNEY S I would say yes. I took this bag on week long journeys around Europe and it was perfect, I of course was not carrying camping gear around with me but I did have clothes, shoes, and toiletries.
This backpack is lightweight and carries alot...the only minimally frustrating thing about it is that it is tall and if you want to access something at the very bottom you have to either unpack the bag or find the thing by blind feel.
I love this backpack it has been a good friend on many a journey.
DANIEL B This pack should be good enough for a 3 day hike.
ANGEL F Yes more than enough. My husband and I each took one of these on a 2 week trip to Panama and had just enough room.
ANDREW W Yes. I took it to Nicaragua for one week and it holds a lot of stuff. It is a little small for me as I am 6'3, but that is my only complaint.
ANGEL F P.S: My wife has also used this backpack as her only luggage when flying cross country with our two small children (2 under 2). Only basic items of course but kids have a lot more needs than adults. Although she's ridiculously amazing so this may be a talent that only she alone could have accomplished. But that's just an idea to let you know the capacity it has
ANGEL F It should do the trick. We use them as carry on luggage and pack enough clothing for a week with shoes and toiletries. Not sure what all you're planning to put in there but I'd assume it's enough room for a true one night ruffing it experience.
MEREDITH R I would think so. I'm not much of a hiker, but I used mine as my sole piece of luggage on a 2 week trip abroad and space wasn't an issue.
