36 cup enamel coffee boiler

By Ann H.

My stepfather absolutely loves it! We used it New Year's Day for an adult cider and it was perfect! This makes family get togethers soooo much fun!

GSI Outdoors Enamelware Coffee Boiler 36 Cup
The GSI Outdoors Enamelware Coffee Boiler 36 Cup is a great choice for when you want to sip on a hot beverage while camping outdoors. This product allows you to boil water and make hot beverages fast when you are in the backcountry. The boiler is made of blue colored enamel steel and has been kiln-hardened twice at 1400 F to prevent scratches and chipping. With dimensions of 10.7 in. x 9.2 in. x 13 in., you can store small ingredients inside it easily. The oversized bail handle allows you to carry the boiler and the lid ensuring there is no spillage. Your boiler also alerts you once your coffee is made! The GSI Outdoors Enamelware Coffee Boiler 36 Cup is just right for a hot cup of cocoa in the outdoors before you turn in for the night.

Shopper  how exactly does it work?
WILLIAM F  despite the name, this is simply a large enamel coffee pot. We use it to boil water to transfer into carafes on camping trips. It eliminates the need for a ladle if we use a large stock pot.
WILLIAM F  You fill it with water and boil... Excellent camp and home pot for boiling and pouring large amounts of water for coffee, tea, etc.. I own two of these. Hard to find and a good purchase.
JAMES O  Bought for Boy Scouts to safely heat and pour hot water for washing dishes. Never made coffee with it.
JERRY D  This is basically a water pot heater; you can use to make "cowboy coffee" or use with a coffee press. It does not come with with a percolator system.
CHARLES P  The pot is just a container to put on the stove for the purpose of boiling water. There is no filter system, no perc system, just an empty pot. We use them in our Boy Scout troop for heating water for washing dishes, instant oatmeal, and hot chocolate.
CHARLES B  It is just a pot, there is nothing inside. I use maxwell coffee in it because it comes in packs. I use three packs to a full pot. Hope this helps.
ROBERT H  This is simply a device to biol water. It is not a peculator.
DWAYNE H  It is an old fashion pot like was used on the trail by cowboys. You fill with water, dump in a large handful of coffee grounds (the more the better) set on fire and bring to a boil. Once boiling, set to the side and let stand for a spell. Pour about a cup of cold water in pot slowly to settle the grounds, pour a cup and enjoy. I am a chuck wagon cook and this is really good pot for a large bunch of coffe drinkers.
DAVE W  This is how we do it and we call it Cowboy Coffee. Bring water to a boil (you choose the appropriate amount for your needs). Loosely measure the quantity of ground coffee recommended for the number of cups you are making. Break a couple eggs into this coffee and stir it well until the coffee is moist. Dump this mixture into the boiling water. Bring it to a boil again and continue until it is the strength you would like. Remove the boiler from the heat. Let it sit a few moments and then pour a small cup of cold water onto the top of the hot water. For some reason, this forces the grounds to the bottom of the kettle and you can pour some pretty decent coffee off the top. Just be careful when you get to the bottom of the pot. Much of the time we just use it to heat water for hot chocolate, tea, and other needs.
ETHEL K  how big is this coffee boiler ?
DAVE W  I believe it holds at least a gallon of liquid comfortably with room for coffee or hot chocolate mix. We use a couple of them (with backup) over an open fire to mix hot chocolate for large groups of people who are rafting with our outdoor adventure company in Maine. It is the perfect size for us as it holds a lot of liquid, but is still manageable. I have not seen anything better for our application. Be aware that it is a boiler, not a percolator so it has no inside parts. When we use it for coffee, we make "Cowboy Coffee" by mixing eggs with the coffee and shocking it with cold water after bringing it to a rolling boil three times. I hope this is helpful. FYI Extremely happy with the product and the service from Sunny.
JASON B  It's a 36 cup. About 12 inches tall and 9 inches wide. Hope this helps.
EDNA D  I purchased 2 of these for work. We had a crowd of 40people. Not all had coffee. It was plenty big for a large crowd. I don't have it right in front of me now (I'm at home). It is about 13 inches tall and 10 inches across on the bottom and about 6 inches at the top. Hope this works for you. We use this outside on a wood burning grill. It is perfect.
ROBERT H  I do not have it here to measure, but I think it is about 8 inches in diameter at the bottom, and about 10 inches high.
