Shopper I'm trying to decide what to get. Why did you pick this one?
CORY C The Backpacker magazine called this the Honda Civic of tents. It's a very light (sub 4 pound) 2 person tent and pretty durable. It's also affordable. I used it on the entire John Mjuir Trail in 2009 plus some extra mileage (250 miles in all). Sets up in 5 minutes or less. It's great for everything except real 4 season weather. It's waterproofing is solid and does well against moderate winds (15-20 mph). The vestibule is big enough to cook if you had to. Now the caveats. It's single wall, so condensation does build up easily. The venting does not work well.
Overall, if you're looking for a solid 3 season backpacking tent that is affordable, light, durable, then this is a good choice.
DEAN M Its compact, very light and easy to set up. Great backpacking tent, very happy with this tent,
JASON B It had good reviews and the price was right. I'm very happy with the tent. It sets up fast and has good ventilation.
PAULA K For what i could find for the money, it was the lightest and easiest to set up by myself. It really works out well and i would recommend it to anyone. Also has good ventilation.
DAVID P Needed a light weight and easy to set up tent. This was my pick and im very happy. Single wall makes setting up in the rain easy and it fits well on my pack. Nothing but good things to say.
SICHEN D I picked this one since it is fairly light and compact. I need some thing easy to carry in my backpacking trip. However I returned this due to the condensation. I also checked a lot other comments, and more than 80% of the users mentioned condensation problem.
SUZANNE H This tent was recommended to us by another hiker. It folds up very compact, its light and has been durable. It is comfortable for 1. I don't see how 2 people could sleep comfortably in it.
LORI S We needed a lightweight tent and read up on this one. Seemed to get good reviews. We used it in the fall and there was pretty good ventilation, but there can be quite a bit of moisture accumulation. We also camped in below freezing and the entire interior roof had frozen water on it. Didn't work well in those conditions. Would probably say it is a 2-3 season tent. BTW we camp in central Texas and the Hill Country in Texas.
RANDY S This tent was purchased based on cost and weight. Overall, it is a good functional tent; one disadvantage is that in heavy wind with rain, the fly loses tension and some moisture will leak in the tent.
MATT M I chose this tent for three main reasons size, weight and price. It is big enough to sleep two people, yet packs very small and light, since I have to carry it and the rest of my gear.
KRIS W I chose this tent based on the weight (backpacking) and price. I also like a covered entry way for boots. I had another tent I loved, but it had to be staked down and in certain areas I had to use rocks or just have the tent collapse on me by morning. It still needs to be staked, but doesn't totally collapse if not. This one held up great-even in rain. Had some condensation but expected that due to the single wall. Used it only once last year, but am taking it out this week.
MATTHEW R A friend has it and recommended it. It's lightweight and packs easy. I use it for kayak camping. It is a 1 Piece design with the rain fly integrated. This makes for quick and easy setup . Another selling feature I liked was that it is self standing. No guy-lines needed.
It is listed as a 2 person although I would consider it a roomy 1 person.
JEFFREY T This tent is my backpacking tent. It's a very light one-man tent and has a vetibule for your backpack and shoes. I can literally set it up in less than 5 minutes.
The best benefit to not having a separate rain fly, is so when it rains and we get to our site, I have it packed for easy access...I quickly pull out the tent, open the end of the tent and slide my backpack in the tent while I set it up. Everything stays dry!!!
This tent can sweat inside so open all of your vents for good ventilation.
I do apply seam sealer and waterproofing annually.
DONALD G Extremely light weight, can be packed into a very small space, yet big enough for two adults (barely). Great tent for backpacking when you don't want to carry any more weight than necessary. Held up very well in stormy weather too.
CHRIS U I wanted a low weight with room. I have used it now around 8 times in all kinds of weather and has held up great. It will have some condensation because of the single wall design but that is expected with the single wall. If you have any other questions feel free to ask
