Shopper Is this coat heavy enough to wear in the winter coldness?
ANNA K No, it is not. It's a perfect jacket for the Fall not Winter.
KELVIN S well of course its gonna be heavy especially with the addiction of the hood. If you ever had a regular north face denali its pretty thick and bulky, nothing like an american apparel or regular hoody. It is pretty warm though... Is this coat good for the winter? Yes, it will keep you warm from the cold... but not from the wind. You will need a windstopper jacket.
SHAHAN C Definitely, it completely protects your upper body and chest area very well.
DAVID V It's good down to the high 40's, especially with the nice fitting hood up. it's not suitable for East Coast or Midwest winters as a single coat option. I'm in the Bay Area where winters aren't quite as harsh and it suits me fine as a single coat option.
RAYMOND H I purchased this coat for last winter in OH. It was very warm. It is not water proof just resistant. It has zippers in the pits so u don't over heat. Two chest zippered packets, hand packets and is compatible with NF's heavier snow jackets (turn it into a 3 in 1). Over all, very happy with it. Now I am using it for the WI winter. So far so good. Easy to clean too, just throw it into washer/dryer. Hope this helps.
