Shopper Does this tent need to be seam sealed?
MIKE R I can't speak to the specific example although it is always good practice to seam seal anything you want waterproof that has seams. Personally I use silicone caulk straight out of the tube and brush it over the seams with a light brush.
STANLEY H Yes. You just run a narrow bead of SilNet on the outside of the seams, then immediately run a clean finger over it to flatten the bead a bit. It *may* not be absolutely necessary to seam seal if you use the tent only at high altitude. I have two Black Diamond Lighthouse tents and sealed them both.
PAUL S Yes, it's kind of a hassle but it is well worth the effort. I'd also highly recommend getting the footprint, the material is lightweight and needs the extra protection if you're setting up in a rocky area. I've only used the tent on climbing trips in the alpine (including winter trips). Not sure I would recommend it for hot summer camping, it's single wall, and as such doesn't breathe all that well. All that said, I absolutely love it, it's a fantastic little tent. Oh, I also bought the vestibule which is great, especially in the winter.
