Love our Tent!

By fishinmt

We purchased this tent several years ago and consider ourselves avid campers. This tent is terrific! We love the bathtub bottom, the hinged door, the roll up windows, and the removable rain fly! We camp in northern Montana in early spring to late fall and haven't been disappointed yet. It does help to have two people for the initial set-up. You stay very warm and the light gives enough glow to find things in the dark. We've never had a problem camping in the rain or cold, we stay warm a...

Affordable and durable

By Wangui

Great for outdoors. I normally share it with one person because I like my space and it is excellent. It’s spacious and well lit once I hook up the light. It’s beautiful durable and affordable. I hav not used it in the rainy season in Kenya but I’m very happy with the product so far.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Does this tent have small door to allow pump wire through?
BRIAN R  Yes it has a dam all entry port.
KENDRA W  This tent has an approximately 6" x 6" zippered opening in the center of the back side of the tent near the floor.
TINA M  Yes
THOMAS H  Yes, this Elite Montana model tent does have a zippered access panel for a electrical power cord, or any other wire to come into the tent. Also, a nifty little door so you can access a cooler. The whole design of the tent is superior, and we really appreciate the light, too. I could go on and on .... Sincerely, Tom H.
THOMAS H  Yes it does
DONNA M  Yes the back center of the tent has a half moon shape window. But I'm not 100 % sure if it has unzips all the way to put wires through it. I hope this was helpful. But others wise I am 110% in love with the tent. Noooooo leaks stays nice and dry :)
LAURA B  Yes, the tent has a small door for accessing a cooler and so you could run a pump wire through it.
Shopper  How well did it work? Were you happy with it?
JOHN W  Yes, very happy. Good size, love the light, love the zipperless door, I could set it up by myself, but went up easy with help of my 8 year old.
BRIAN R  I like the tent very much. It's a bit heavy but puts together easily. My only issue is that the light in the center, specifically the mounting bracket broke our first time using it. It wasn't cause we were rough with it, it simply broke. That happens but Coleman's customer service could not be more difficult to deal with. I've tried them multiple times and over one year later, I still don't have replacement part.
JILL R  Huge! Easy to set up. Really pleased.
GORDON M  When putting up the tent, a tip for keeping the door lined up so the velcro closure works properly. Make sure to put the door frame and door assembly together and zipper up the door after the tent us put up, but before you've staked everything down. Finish staking the tent down. When you unzipper the door, the velcro should be pretty well lined up.
GORDON M  Very spacious tent with great ventilation. Putting it up and taking it down is easy if you have at least 2 people and one of them has put up a tent before. The storage bag is big enough to easily put everything away. We have not used it in the rain so don't know how good the Weathertec system is. The hinged door is very convenient as are the auto roll windows. Very ingenious design. We fit two Coleman inflatable twin mattresses side by side and 3 regular sleeping bag pads so 5 adults fit comfortably. I think if we all just used sleeping bag pads we could have fit the 8 people stated, but it may be a little cozy if you have a lot of gear to stow in the tent. The lighting system has been upgraded to LED, not a spiral fluorescent tube. I don't know how bright the previous one was, but this one seemed adequate and I prefer it since the batteries most likely last longer than they would have with a fluorescent system. There was a problem with the light switch falling off of the mounting point on the tent wall. A plastic clip used to mount the switch to the tent was broken right out of the box. Phoned up Coleman and they sent a replacement free of charge right away. Since the replacement clip came with a brand new switch and complete wiring harness, we have an extra switch should the original ever break (which I don't expect it to since it seems well made).
THOMAS T  I've been very happy with it. Very roomy and have twice been in nasty weather (heavy rain/hail) without an issue. Relatively easy to put up (easier with two people though doable with one). No real issues with it.
MIKE F  This tent is great. Takes 2 people to set-up and a bit of time/patience - not difficult to set-up - just patience - We are a family of 5 and dog - with tons of room for extra stuff in the tent. The overhead light never worked - sort of a silly feature. We use our own lantern. The swinging door is a great feature! Very happy with this purchase.
JONATHAN B  It is a great tent. It definitely takes 2 people to setup and requires that you treat it with waterproofing on the rain fly. It leaked for us in a heavy downpour. It stayed dry through light showers though. It also doesn't have great ventilation as there is no rear window besides a really small opening at the bottom of the tent. Overall I'd give it a 4 out of 5.
ELIZABETH C  Great tent! It's easy to set up for being such a spacious tent. I am very happy with my purchase.
KENDRA W  Very happy with this tent. Easy setup. 1 exception the "door" does not work well. Does not line up with the velcro to hold it shut. Must readjust it a lot. Light system is nice. 2 adults & 3 children. We fit 2 king air matresses, 1 in each end of tent with 3' path in between. Doesn't leave a lot of room for gear, but it beats sleeping on the ground. Went thru a major storm stayed up & dry.
KAREN K  Love it so far. While camping in Big Sur last year, we unfortunately encountered a downpour. It was one of the worst storms in 15 years, but we stayed dry in this tent. It is a BIG tent though. My family of four fit comfortably and we had extra space, but it requires alot of space for packing and storing.
JULIE F  Yes, very happy. Love the light and the door. Great tent.
TONY E  I have been very happy with it so far. The only con i have is the little plastics tangs that hold the light to the ceiling are very flimsy and break easily, my light now hangs by the wires.
JASON G  Yes, we were very happy with it, everything worked as described and it has more than enough room for the family. We are still using it on a regular basis and as it always seems to be a torrential downpour when we camp, we were pleasantly surprised that we have not needed to spray the fabric with any sealer yet.
joe k  Do they sell a footprint for this tent?
GORDON M  I use 10 x 20 disposable plastic painting drop cloths from Home Depot instead of a tarp. I think they're about $1-$2 each. Moisture usually accumulates overnight under any tarp beneath the tent from water naturally present in the ground. With a disposable drop cloth, you don't have to worry about packing away a muddy tarp and hanging it out to dry after you get home since you can just throw them away. If you're camping in the rain however, make sure to keep the tarp edges underneath the tent since rainwater can fall on the tarp and get trapped under the tent between the tarp and tent bottom. Also, dig a shallow trench all the way around maybe an inch or so under where the tent meets the ground, again, to keep water from rolling down the sides of the tent and beneath it.
WILLIAM B  Not that I'm aware of. I use two 10' * 10' tarps to place below my tent for my ground cover. I overlap the tarps in the middle.
ELISE V  Not that I am aware of. We bought a tarp and cut it to fit.
MIKE F  No idea. By footprint - do you mean schematic on how to assemble? If so - it is imprinted directly on the carrier bag. This tent is fantastic for family of 5 or 6. Plenty of space for sleeping and gear. It would not be so comfortable with 8 people and gear.
