Can you freeze the water in the bag for hot days?

I have; since it is recommended that you store the bag in the freezer if you aren't going to use it for a while, I figured it must be ok to freeze water in it. Just remember that the water will expand, so maybe only fill 3/4.

The opening is large enough to put in ice cubes and that keeps the water cold. If you froze the entire pack the water in the tube would freeze and you would not be able to get water through it.

Just purchased this product. Where is the pocket that you supposedly can put sunglasses and snacks in?? There is none on this one, unless you are talking about the opening for the bladder, which would be up against one's back.

My youngest daughter has this model, and there is no pocket. We got it for her when she was 5 for long hikes (10+ miles), so wanted the lightest one possible. My older daughter has one with several pockets (zipper and side), which come in handy for her perpetual collecting.
If your child likes to travel with provisions, I'd exchange for another model. This one's quite simple.

I believe the Mini Mule style has pockets and the Skeeter does not.

Why does it specifically say in the description of the Skeeter (the one I purchased) that it has side pockets to hold sunglasses, snacks, etc. That is one of the reasons I purchased it!

There isn't one on this one. The more expensive ones have them. But we just tuck a few things into the pouch facing away from the back. Nothing big will fit of course

The Skeeter has no snack/glasses pocket. It is a hydration pack only. The kids-sized camelbak that has pockets for snacks and things is called the Mini-Mule.

There is a little pocket inside the opening for the bladder. I think it is against the back, which doesn't seem to be a problem. It has a zipper, and is the perfect size for small snacks.

I wish you had included the boys torso size! Here is the pack dimensions:Pack Dimensions 12 in. x 7 in. x 1 in. As for freezing, the movement of the skier usually keeps the water moving enough so as not to freeze. To be sure, one or two carefully placed long lasting chemical hand warmers will do the trick and insure your drinking cool water, not ice water.
