Shopper Would this be a good pack for horseback riding? I am looking for a pack that isnt too heavy, but yet can last a couple hours on a ride.
CARRIE W Yes I would think that this is a good hydration pack for that. It isn't very heavy, and it has lasted me hours while search and rescuing.
TRACY G I think it would work great for this use. Depending on how much you need to put into the pack. It would be great for a day trip.
STEPHANIE W I use mine for shorter mountain biking trips and it has been great! There's not a whole lot of storage space but if you're just looking for something to carry a decent amount of water and maybe keys and a cell phone or something, this would probably suit you just fine. Hope this helps.
KEVIN A Yes this is great choice. my wife use hers for all activities because it forms to her shape and dose not jump around on her back. Another great thing is that it vents well. We both will add ice to our packs in the summer to keep cool.
ANN D I use this pack for hiking and mountain biking and find that because it is narrow it does not impede my shoulder movement or rotation at the waist. Since I have never taken it on horseback yet, I can't say for sure whether it would not bump the rise in the back of the saddle if you are riding western. But because is is one of the shorter packs (it stops right about where my spine starts to curve in) it's likely it won't hit the back of the saddle like some of the larger packs would.
STEPHANIE K I think it would be excellent-- you can adjust the straps so it wouldn't bounce around too much while cantering/trotting, etc. as it fits your back well. The only downside is the sound of the water sloshing. ;) For a gentle trail ride, there wouldn't be any problems.
