Traveling high and light? You need one of these to keep you and your sleeping bag warm and dry.Works like a one man tent without a tent in the winter or summer complete with no-see-um screen.About my only gripe is that it doesn't have mattress straps(unlike say,OR bivys)to keep your mattress pad(s) from moving around.

does this require a ground cloth to keep dry in the rain?
cindy s
Yes, the footprint would help keep out the rain.

Does this bivy have sleeping pads straps for air mattresses,so they won't move around?
MIKE R
Although I use a different style bivy shelter (mine opens from the side and not the top) I do use an air mattress and have never had an issue with it moving around. These shelters are usually only big enough for one person with the possibility of storing gear at the "head" and "foot" so your air mat can't really go anywhere.

Thanks MIKE R.,for the input. And this is what's so appealing about this particular bivy is the length, head room for stowing gear.OR bivys all have mattress straps so I thought I would at least ask...HikerMiker
