Some hardcore long distance sites recommend removing these from the poles. And if I'm exhausted and using the trekking poles for a shelter pole, and have to remove them before setting up the tent; then yes, keep them off of the poles. But for hardcore day hiking, or when hiking with a shelter that has its own poles, then keep these on the poles. First, they are beautiful. Second, they keep the poles from sinking into muck or soft dirt: one doesn't have to hold back arm muscles, constantly ins...pecting the ground. And third, they protect the bottom of the carbon fiber shaft from horizontally striking against rocks, as well as keep the poles out of just-small-enough rock crevices. Unconsciously protecting the poles from rock strikes takes some fundamental energy; so screw these on, and for hardcore multi-hour hikes, save your energy.
These baskets unscrew easily from the poles so that I can change between them and a pair of bigger baskets for use in snow. Most other poles I know about have baskets that are hard to remove.

Sorry, don't know if the fit is universal or proprietary. It does have threads inside.

I am not sure if it fits other poles beside Black Diamond. It is threaded, the inner diameter is half an inch.

It does have threads and works with with Black Diamond trekking poles that are threaded and also with smooth press on pole tips. I know it will not work with Leki poles which are larger diameter.
