I haven't had a chance to use these poles yet either for skiing or trekking, so I don't know how strong they are, but so far I love them--better than the adult version that I bought last year. They are simple and lightweight, and assuming they don't fold under the first pole plant, they will become my go-to pole for everything. I bought them for myself, a 5'6" adult, and they are plenty long enough with some to spare. Good inexpensive alternative for shorter adults.

Most weigh a pound or more. The weight is usually listed in the description of the poles. The Black Diamond Ultra Distance poles are significantly lighter than other poles, though.
