When I did my research before buying a 2nd pair of snowshoes, I learned that "the right" snowshoe length is dictated both by user weight & by the condition of the snow. A 120lb woman had asked if she should purchase 23" or 27" showshoes. An expert had offered his recomendations, noting that a longer snowshoe is needed if the user is (or will be) sinking too much in the snow. I'm petite, weighing ~105lbs. Although my 23" Atlas Elektra 12 snowshoes work really well when I'm trekking on packed snow or established paths, snowshoeing in deep, powdery snow is really challenging. I encountered the "sinking" situation the expert had mentioned when I snowshoed in my 23" snowshoes in deep powder. A great workout, but not overly fun. I opted to purchase 27" Atlas Elektras as my 2nd pair so I could snowshoe in deeper, unpacked snow, plus have a pair I could lend to most of my male & female friends. I used my 27" snowshoes for the 1st time last weekend even though there wasn't much snow & it was packed. They were delightful. Great lacing system. Lightweight. Sleek. Nice mobility. I adjusted quickly to their greater length, discovering I could snowshoe as easily in the 27" pair as I can in my 23" pair. The 30" snowshoe wouldn't be a bad choice, especially if snowshoeing in deep powder is anticipated. As far as buying the Women's 27" goes... I think it's also a good option. I'm thinking about buying such a pair for my 160 lb. brother-in-law whose legs are slightly bowed. He bought a pair of Tubbs & found he can't comfortably walk in them because of their width. He keeps stepping on the other snowshoe. The Women's Elektra is a much narrower showshoe. The Women's 27" is bound to provide a better fit for his body than a Men's 25" or some other make. The width of your gait is something to consider. You might need a narrower snowshoe. The green teal color won't be an issue. Hope this helps.
