Comments about Eureka Eureka Forte SQ 2XT Tent:

I bought this to replace a Timberline 2 tent that I loaned out that never returned. It looked like a slight upgrade with better waterproof specs on the floor and rainfly than the timberline. I liked the full rainfly of the 2XT over the plain Forte tent. It also had a footprint that I purchased at the same time. The footprint allows the rainfly and poles to be used as a shelter without the tent, though mosquitoes and no-seeum's here in Washington would probably eat you alive. Unfortunately both the tent and footprint can't be clipped to the poles at the same time, so if I had to do it over I wouldn't buy the footprint to save wear on the tent floor, I'd just make one from plastic sheeting. It is a little more complicated to setup than the Timberline, but not all that difficult. I use the tents as single person tents, and it does appear to have more roominess than the timberline. Also the vestibules don't cost extra like they do on the Timberline. One curiosity was that the tent was shipped with 3 plastic and 3 metal stakes. Staking it out without the guy lines looks to need at least 8 stakes and with the guy lines an additional 6, so you'll need to get more stakes

Comments about Eureka Eureka Forte SQ 2XT Tent:

Bought this tent for occasional use, did not want to spend too much on a tent. I have not tested it in the rain, but tried it out in the yard just to get a feel for it. Although it looks complicated, it set up very easily, and it is very sturdy compared to other plain x-pole design tents. These Aluminum poles Eureka uses are 12mm diameter, not 9 or 7 like other tent makers. The pole is a thin wall, to be light, but the large diameter makes a very sturdy pole, and frame. The seams are well reinforced in the corners, and in stress points, and taped all round. Other tents I looked at had far less reinforcing. All in all, it looks very good at the sale price of [$]. At [$], what some retailers are charging, there are many other tents that compete for [$], so that may be another story.Happy with my purchase so far. It is obviously not the smallest packing lightest tent ever made, but for car or Motorbike trips, this tent is perfect.
