Comments about Coleman Coleman Evanston 8 Tent:
LOVED IT. Our first "family" tent for our family of 4. Easy to get up and down. Plenty of room for 2 queen size air mattresses with space to spare for gear. Loved the hinged door with velcro and front porch. My husband is thrilled to have a tent he can stand up straight in.
Comments about Coleman Coleman Evanston 8 Tent:
I purchased this tent because of the hinged door. I absolutely love the door. It has velcro tabs that hold it closed without zipping it. If you are camping with kids, you will love not having to un-snag the door zipper every time they go in and out of the tent. Three trips so far with no problems. Two storms and no leaks. No way it is an eight person tent. Four with gear comfortably. Six without gear, not so comfortably. I originally ordered the evanston 6, only to find that it does not have the hinged door. I sent it back to Sunny sports and they gave me a prompt refund. Thanks Sunny.
Comments about Coleman Coleman Evanston 8 Tent:
This tent can be setup by 1 person but it's better with 2. Even thought this tent has the capacity for 8 people. I used it for 3. I had a queens air bed and a twin air bed with plenty of room left inside. There was light rain on our last night of camping. We didn't even know it rained until morning when we opened the door of the tent and saw the ground wet. There was no leaks inside the tent. Fly worked great.

Comments about Coleman Coleman Evanston 8 Tent:
I recently used the Coleman Evanston 8 tent for the second time. I am a novice camper and fortunately was with several people, including my spouse that were seasoned campers. My husband was not with me this second camping trip, so I was responsible for most of the setup/tear down. I found the instructions easy to use (they are attached to the carry-bag) and the tent went up within 30 minutes with me doing the setup on my own.
The tent states it is roomy enough for 8 people....I had a queen sized air mattress and it was perfect for my mattress, two camp chairs, and 3 bins of my camp gear.
The nights were cold and windy (Camping in Houston in November), so cold I guess is relative - it reached 38 degrees the first night.
There was wind, however, and the tent stood strong without any additional reinforment needed besides the tent stakes it came with. The top of the tent is mesh, so the ventilation is fantastic - perfect for me with the rain fly on top as I was using a Mr.Heater portable heater to keep myself as warm as possible.
Tear down was easy and not too time consuming. I recommend keeping the windows open to allow for the air to flow through the tent as you are folding it for easy folding.
The hinged door was wonderful! I didn't give it much thought when I bought the tent - I just wanted something with adequate square footage and head room. However, it made getting out for the nighttime visits to the privy very nice!
All in all, I highly suggest this tent for anyone, but I wouldn't expect it to truly occomodate 8 people, mostly because the walls of the tent are domed and you really don't want your bags to touch the sides of the tent at night (dew, rain, etc). I would say at most to comfortably accomodate sleepers, 6 people would be the max - to allow for a little floor space for walking among the bgs.
