Comments about Slumberjack Slumberjack Latitude -20F Synthetic Sleeping Bag - Long Size - Left Zipper:
I was reluctant when I bought this bag due to the size and weight, however, I just got back from using it for the second time and I'm able to fully recommend this bag. True, it is heavy, but with that weight comes a truly warm bag. I used it atop Max Patch on the Appalachian Trail on 12-12-09 when the ambient temp was 14 degrees with 20-30 MPH sustained winds. I was in a simple Kelty 3-season tent and this bag, despite the (at a minimum -10 windchill conditions) kept me down right toasty. I slept like a baby!!
It's quite bulky and I couldn't use a stuff sack in my 4500 cu. inch pack, so I ended up just stuffing the heck out of it in the bottom of the pack and it compressed surprisingly well. I still had room for my tent, food, cook set, first-aid kit and couple clothing items.
Bottom line: know what you're getting...it's heavy, bulky, but if you can live with that, it works VERY WELL.
Oh, the only negative so far is the zipper. Despite advertising "snag-proof," like every sleeping bag I've ever bought (high cost, low cost...doesn't matter), the zipper will snag. The remedy is to zip very slow...takes about 30 seconds of deliberate, slow zipping to get this bag zipped up all the way...but I can live with that!!
Great bag for the PRICE!!
